The General tab is your starting point for configuring each Core Tap. It sets the device's role in the game, its station identity, and what the physical button on the unit does.
Open the General tab from the tab bar at the top of the Control Panel, then click Save when you are done.
The device name is shown at the top of the page. It identifies this unit on your network and in any logs.
To change it, go to the Network tab and update the Device Host Name field.
The Mode dropdown sets the role this station plays in the game.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Station | A regular gameplay stop. When a player taps, their visit is recorded on the tag and the configured action plays. |
| Checkpoint | Validates a tag without recording a new visit. Useful for entry gates or waypoints. |
| Finale | The end-of-game redemption station. Checks whether all required stations have been visited, awards the prize, and marks the tag so the prize is not given twice. |
| New Tag Setup | Programs blank NFC tags. Tap a blank tag to write the game prefix onto it so it is ready for a player. |
| Tag Reset | Erases game data from used tags. Tap a previously used tag to clear it back to a blank state. |
For a detailed explanation of how each mode behaves, see Device Modes.
(Visible when Mode is set to Station)
A number from 1 to 32 that uniquely identifies this station. Each Core Tap in the venue should have a different station number. The player's tag stores which station numbers they have visited as a bitmask.
A short text string (up to 16 characters) that is written onto every tag at a New Tag Setup station. All stations in the same game must share the same prefix - this is how the system confirms a tag belongs to your game rather than a different event.
(Visible when Mode is set to Checkpoint or Finale)
Check the boxes for each station number that a player must have visited before this Checkpoint or Finale will grant success. Any station left unchecked is treated as optional.
The physical button on the Core Tap can be programmed to perform an action on Short Press, Double Press, or Long Press.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| None | Button press is ignored |
| Activate Station | Fires the full action sequence as if a valid tag was tapped |
| Trigger Incomplete | Plays the "game not complete" response |
| Trigger Complete | Plays the "game complete" response |
| Play Audio | Plays the configured audio file without triggering lights or outputs |
| Restart Device | Reboots the Core Tap |
The bottom of the General tab shows a live connection status indicator confirming the device is reachable and operating normally.
