The Tap Point tab configures the NFC reader unit that is physically wired to this Core Tap. It also controls the LED ring built into the Tap Point hardware itself, and provides a way to update the Tap Point's firmware.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Read Interval (ms) | How frequently the reader scans for a tag, in milliseconds. Default is 250 ms. Lower values make detection faster but increase processor load. Recommended range: 100-500 ms. |
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Tap Cooldown (s) | After a successful tap, the reader ignores the same tag for this many seconds. This prevents a held tag from triggering multiple times. Default is 3 seconds. |
| Accepted Tag Type | Restricts which NFC tag types are accepted. Options: NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216, or Any Supported. Set this to match the tags you are issuing to players. |
| Wait for Core Idle | When checked, the Tap Point will not process any new tag until the Core Tap signals it has finished its current action sequence. Prevents a second player from tapping before the first activation has completed. |
These sliders control the Tap Point's own built-in hardware - not the external LED strip managed on the Lighting tab.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Volume (%) | The playback volume for the small speaker built into the Tap Point. |
| Master Brightness | A percentage (0-100%) controlling the overall brightness of the LED ring on the Tap Point. |
The Tap Point's LED ring displays different patterns depending on what is happening. Each state is configured independently with a Pattern, Color 1, and Color 2.
Color 2 is used by patterns that animate between two colors (Dual Chase, Orbit Pair, etc.). For single-color patterns, only Color 1 applies.
Displayed while the Tap Point is waiting for a tag. Default: blue pulse.
Displayed after a valid tag is read successfully. Default: green flash.
Displayed when a tag is rejected (wrong prefix, wrong type, etc.). Default: red flash.
Displayed when a player completes all required stations. Default: rainbow.
| Pattern | Description |
|---|---|
| Static (Solid) | All LEDs on in a single solid color |
| Pulse | Smooth fade in and out |
| Target | Expanding ring animation |
| Ring | Rotating ring |
| Spin | Spinning sweep |
| Flash | Rapid strobe |
| Radar | Sweeping radar arm |
| Rainbow | Full color spectrum cycle |
| Dual Chase | Two-color chasing dots |
| Breathe Ring | Slow ring breathe |
| Marquee | Scrolling marquee lights |
| Orbit Pair | Two dots orbiting in opposite directions |
Use this section to install updated firmware on the Tap Point unit itself (separate from updating the Core Tap).
.bin firmware file provided by support. The Core Tap handles the transfer over the wired link - no direct connection to the Tap Point is needed.
